Location:
Ladenburg
is a small town on the Neckar river in the north of Baden-Württemberg
between Mannheim in the north and Heidelberg in the southeast. It has a
historic centre dating from the Late Middle Ages.
Venue:
The
congress will take place in the Lobdengau Hall. The address is
Realschulstraße 1, Ladenburg. There's a free car park right next to the
hall.

Tourist
Attractions:
The
main focus of the Lobdengau museum lies on archaeology, local history, and
folk culture.
The
automobile museum Dr. Carl Benz is situated in the almost 100 year old
factory buildings of the former company C. Benz & Sons.
The
remains of the outer city wall with Hexenturm (witch tower), Pfaffenturm
(priest tower), and Martinstor (Martin's gate) date from about 1200. The
market place is worth seeing as well.
There's
a new park at the south-eastern end of Ladenburg called “Der grüne
Ring” (the Green Ring) which was nominated Germany's most beautiful park
in 2006.
Event
Programme:
On
Friday
afternoon at 3.30 pm and/or 4 pm we'll offer a free
guided tour of the historic center lasting about 90 minutes. The
number of participants is limited to 25 per tour.
A tour following “the footsteps of Carl Benz” is arranged for Sunday
afternoon including the automobile museum Carl Benz.
On Monday, 14 May, we'll make a bus trip to Schwetzingen to
see the palace and gardens. We'll stay for lunch.
Directions:
By
car: from the north and the south take the A5 until exit 35
(Ladenburg).
From the west take the A6 to Kreuz Viernheim, A659 to Kreuz Weinheim, then
A5 until exit 35 (Ladenburg).
From the east take the A6 to Kreuz Walldorf or A4 to Hattenbacher triangle,
then A5 until exit 35 (Ladenburg)
By
rail:
IC/ICE to Frankfurt, Heidelberg or Mannheim, then regional train.
