The two images that make up a stereo pair must be mounted so that they can be precisely aligned for viewing. It is worth spending some time to achieve this accuracy which will enhance the pleasure of the viewing experience. Of the easily available mounts, both GEPE and BONUM
offer mounts in the 50x50 format that can give the required precision.
Each of the slides in a pair must be marked to differentiate between the left or right slides.
The usually adopted standard is left / red |

The other mounting method keeps both slides together in a single mount in the 41x101 format. RBT currently make a fully automatic projector for this format. For comfortable viewing - particularly by projection - it is vital that the two halves of the pair are presented at the same height. There must also be no rotation between the halves. Small differences (less than 0.3mm) can be corrected using the alignment rails in the slide mounts. Correct framing of a stereo pair is based on the identical placement of the near point. The effect of viewing a properly mounted stereo picture is similar to looking out through a conventional window from about 2 meters. |
